Buenos!
Hope y’all enjoyed Mother's day. It was great to Skype home! We had a pretty good week here. It started with exchanges with Jamestown on Tuesday. Elder C went up to Jamestown and I ran the Spanish area in Cookeville with Elder S. It is always fun/nerve-racking to run a Spanish area by yourself, but it was a good experience. During the exchange, we taught 4 lessons, which really set the tone for our week. Those lessons early in the week catapulted us to a week of 22 other lessons, 16 of which came from tracting. It was the most lessons that I'd ever taught in a week, so that was exciting.
We definitely saw some tender mercies on Thursday. The afternoon was not so good. We had three set appointments, and two members scheduled to come out with us. We were pretty stoked. But, both members had to cancel, and all three appointments fell through. Bummer. Then, we weren't able to find or teach anyone during our power-hour, so that stunk. After dinner, we bounced to Monterey to work for the night. The first few people we tried weren't home, so we just figured it was going to be one of those lame days where nothing goes right. But, then we went to this trailer park, and the whole day turned around. The first people that we talked to let us right in. It was a young family. The parents are H and F. H seemed really interested, and the spirit was definitely there while we taught the Restoration. We've been praying to find a family to teach and baptize, so who knows? Then, the next 3 doors we knocked we found three new potential investigators! Lastly, to wrap up we went back to a potential that we'd tried earlier, and she was home this time! So, we had a solid lesson with her too! After not teaching anyone all day, we taught 5 lessons in just over an hour. God is good! We were dancing down the street back to our car, we were pumped.
Friday night was my last night as a teenager, so we had to do something crazy. So, we had a contest to see who could eat a bag of popcorn the fastest without using our hands. It was fun. Elder C just barely beat me out haha. On Saturday, I turned 20 years old! Wow! Crazy! I done spent 2 decades on this earth. On Saturday we worked hard and had another 5 lesson day. At night, we made a little cake and blew out candles and all that jazz. Then Sunday, we had our normal seven hours of church. After that we had dinner with our ward mission leader, and then we skyped! Pretty fun week!
My ponderizer this week is from Alma 37:44-45 which says, "For behold, it is as easy to give heed to the word of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss...the words of Christ, if we follow their course, [shall] carry us beyond this vale of sorrow into a far better land of promise." The words of Christ will lead us to where we want to go, especially the Book of Mormon. I love the Book of Mormon, I love teaching people about the Book of Mormon. I know that when we read the scriptures, there is a power in them. We will gain power to resist temptation, power to become more like Christ. God prepared the Book of Mormon for our day, and I'm so glad for my testimony that the Book of Mormon is true. I testify that more blessings than we can imagine come from reading the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. I hope y’all/youinses have a great week!
Love,
Elder Mitchell
It was great to Skype on Mother's day!
Their popcorn eating contest for Elder Mitchell's 20th birthday
Due to the stake getting split, they had a mini-transfer
to make new zones aligned with the new stakes.
This is their new district.
Great week of teaching! Keep up the good work! Happy Birthday!!
